NY Life sits down with actor Jonathan Emond to discuss his career so far, and move to the entertainment capital of Hollywood.
NY Life: What made you decide that LA was the place for you?
Jonathan: When I was on set of Transformers I felt at home. That feeling stayed with me even after I was wrapped. There was this feeling of I want to do this for the rest of my life. The energy, the people and the pace of things are just crazy! I knew that the only way I could get there again was to move to where it all began.
NY Life: How did you like the transition so far?
Jonathan: I was only 19 at the time and the place I lived in wasn’t ideal. I thought multiple times of going back but I knew I couldn’t. I had to stay and pave my own way. My leaving was hard on the whole family but they supported my decision knowing it was going to aid me in my career. Even though it was tough, I’m so thankful for having stayed up to now.
NY Life: How has your career changed since your arrival to LA?
Jonathan: Since my arrival I’ve joined an acting studio that has helped me tremendously. I just signed with an international management company and I grew up. The growing up was most needed! But honestly, things have been very well aligned for me and only the future knows what’s in store.
NY Life: How did you find the change in acting skill level in LA?
Jonathan: There’s definitely talent here and it’s amazing to see how much people grow through the process. The skill level is stronger then back home but that doesn’t intimidate me. It actually encouraged me to reach new heights.
NY Life: What have you been up to recently?
Jonathan: I just wrapped a show called Fatal Vows where my father, in Las Vegas, killed my mother. It’s really gory but it was certainly worth the thrill! I had a blast on that set and would do it again in a heartbeat.
NY Life: What’s next on the horizon for you?
Jonathan: I can’t wait to get started with my management and start getting meetings with top agents. That first audition in the US is going to be a thrill in a half!
Thanks for your time!
