Finding His Voice
Von Dre’s pursuit of music started with a need for a voice. “I could express myself and not be judged… That made me feel like I was important,” he explains. This need to express is deeply infused with the culture of his hometown, Washington, DC, a place he describes as a unique “cultural melting pot.”
He doesn’t just write songs; he channels his life. “I tell people all the time my music is my therapy,” Von Dre reveals. “I use my everyday life to create the art I give the fans.” This raw, diary-like approach leads to powerful turning points. He recalls the moment his passion became a career: hearing his song on the radio. “I ran to the car… That feeling made me feel as though I was out here to change the world’s frequency and it’s been my job ever since.”
