Kristen Taekman has made quite the splash since leaving the cast of Real Housewives of New York City last year. The model and former reality star has been pretty busy with her environment friendly beauty line, Pop of Color, and her fashion blog, Last Nights Look. Not to mention being a fulltime wife, to eBoost CEO Josh Taekman, and full time mother of two, to 8 year old Cassius and 4 year old Kingsley. The ladder of which she describes “leaves little room for idle time” during an exclusive New York Life Magazine interview between her and I.

Accompanying Taekman’s family and storied career is her heart warming efforts with SmileTrain. SmileTrain is an international children’s charity that provides 100% free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children 85+ developing countries. I asked her to describe the feeling in which she responded “it is a surreal feeling being there at the very moment someone’s life is changed forever”. A feeling we should all strive for at one point or another in our lives. The “Season of Giving Campaign” continues to grow as lifestyle shoe brand, Therafit, has joined the initiative to change children’s lives all over the world.
It seems like Kristen’s decision to step away from the microscope known as reality tv has allowed her to reconnect with what matters most and although it may have not been the popular decision, it was the right decision, for her.
